MY SOAP BOX: USE LESS SALT, DAMNIT!!


I have learned in my many years, that we are addicted to salt. After going on eating programs which were "salt-poor" I learned to enjoy food for the actual way the food tastes, NOT the salt on the food!

Salt is a major contributor to high blood pressure and water retention. and therefore, a major cause of heart attack and stroke.

You will never see me salt food at the table and I do not cook with salt at all. I know, I know, I have friends in the food industry who say "salt brings out the taste of the food." WRONG, salt brings out the taste of SALT, my friends.

Try this experiment: go without adding salt in your cooking or at your table for 2 weeks. At the end of that time, use a little salt and you will be amazed at the unpleasant affect it has on the food.
