THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH

It was on this date in 1942, The Skin of Our Teeth, opened in New York City. The play was Thorton Wilder’s sequel to Our Town. The Skin of Our Teeth starred Tallulah Bankhead, Fredric March, Montgomery Clift and E.G. Marshall.

The play, basically and briefly, follows one family throughout history. Tallulah is their maid and she talks to the audience throughout the evening. What a scream she was!

One critic wrote, “As of last evening, the theatre was looking up.”

The play was later presented on television in the 50's with Mary Martin playing the Tallulah role.

THAT'S A SWITCH!!
(Not really, if you know what I mean!)
