ROBERTA PETERS

Miss Peters as the Queen of the Night

On this date in 1950, a young girl filled in for the star at the Metropolitan Opera and literally became an international soprano star overnight.

Her debut on this date caused a great sensation. We have called her (in subsequent years) "Becky Sharp" and even "Robert A. Peters".

She was married for about 20 minutes to one of the greatest baritone voices of all time, Robert Merrill.

That's about all I have to say about her!

One of the rudest people I have had the misfortune to know in this world.

Oddly enough, I had exactly the same experience with her myself!
