Faye Emerson, born on this date in 1919 was a big deal when television started in the late 40's and all through the 50's. You couldn't turn on a set without seeing her. She was kinda everywhere you looked - you couldn't get away from her. She didn't have a whole lot of talent, but she could talk. And she never shut up, either!
And when the Television Academy decided to give annual awards, they named the award for dear old Faye. Faye died Mar 9, 1983.
