On this date in 1899, Ernest Hemingway was born. Many consider him America's greatest writer. He won both the Pulitzer Prize [1953] & Nobel Prize[1954] and he wrote: The Old Man and the Sea, The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls; Papa died July 2, 1961.

When asked "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Hemingway simply replied,

"To die in the rain."
