Agnes Moorehead ( 1900-1974)
Emmy Award-winning actress: Night of the Vicious Valentine, The Wild, Wild West [1966-67]; The Revolt of Mamie Stover (my favorite), The Singing Nun, Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte, How the West Was Won, Raintree County, Magnificent Obsession, Show Boat, Johnny Belinda, Dark Passage, Jane Eyre, The Magnificent Ambersons, Citizen Kane.
Yes, I actually met her when she came to speak at Georgia College. My friend Jim Smith was so enamored of her that at the reception following, Agnes had a glass of punch and a cookie. Jim followed her around and when she put her napkin and half-eaten cookie down, Jim snapped it up and has kept it for 35 years as a souvenir. I'm not making that up.
And yes, she played Endora, The Witch. Not her finest hour, but I'm certain it made her a rich woman. R.I.P. old girl.

I was a member of her fan club!
I have also bought a collection of her radio work, which is really terrific.

Now I loved her in Bewitched. And I think my paternal grandmother did too because she seemed to dress like Endora. I remember bright colored kaftans?? shawls, hair pieces, cigarettes in a holder, and a drink in her hand or sitting on the pump organ she loved to play. My friends were scared of her in the late 60's early 70's.lol
